SD FILMS GET SOME LOVE

Awards season continued in San Diego this month, when Film Consortium San Diego staged its fourth annual San Diego Film Awards ceremony. The April 2nd event was televised on CW6 on April 9th, with “San Diego’s Funniest Person” James Schrader playing host to a broadcast that took its cues from 64 years of Oscars broadcasts — meaning banter, bits, and musical numbers.

Winners were chosen from 180+ all-SD productions, mostly short films, though a couple feature length awards were also given in both narrative and documentary categories. The winning films will be screened at Digital Gym Friday, April 14th,  but you can get a glimpse of a few trailers, plus a couple of shorts here below:

Not previewed here is The Highway, winner of Best Director (Susan Davis); Refuge, winner of Best Costume Design (Jeanine Reynard) and Best Ensemble Cast; Tonic, winner of Best Sound Design (Nyx Jesmani) and Best Musical Score (Vafa Samiei); and Tribal Baroque: Beingness winner of Best Documentary Short Film(David and Barbarella Fokos).
