In this weekly column, our staff hand picks a selection of events from our curated calendar to fill your weekend and beyond, helping you decide what to do when the options are too plentiful to pick just one. Perhaps we’ll bump into you somewhere along the way.
We’d like to call special attention to our inaugural Pizza Parlay, happening Sunday at 5pm. The event is co-presented by Urbanist Guide, 3rdSpace, So Say We All and wishproject.me, and sponsored by Blind Lady Ale House. If you have a creative project that you’d like funded, you have until 5pm Friday to submit your proposal. Even if you don’t submit a proposal, you should come on Sunday to have pizza and beer and see the amazing things that your community wants to build!

URBANIST is excited to present our first Pizza Parlay, hosted and co-produced by 3rdSpace, So Say We All, and wishproject.me. Join us for this fun, new monthly pizza party to raise micro-grants for creative projects by San Diegans! Pizza Parlay will take place one Sunday a month, usually the last. Up until the Thursday before each Parlay (this month’s deadline extended until 5pm Friday), you can send us proposals for creative projects that could use a bit of funding to raise them off the ground or to the next level. At the Sunday event, Parlay-goers will each receive a packet of proposals to review over pizza, and everyone will vote on site. $10 from each $12 per person cover donation will be granted to the winning proposal. The more people attend, the bigger the grant! Urbanistguide.com will announce the winner the Monday after the Parlay, and unlike with most grants, winners will receive the award immediately.
