Adams Avenue Unplugged @ Adams Ave from Texas to Kensington - 04/29/2017 Adams Avenue Unplugged takes place April 29, 2017 along a two-mile stretch of Adams Avenue, from University Heights on the West through Normal Heights, and into parts of Kensington to the East. The event will feature live musical performances staged inside restaurants, bars, coffeehouses and galleries lining the neighborhood. Being able to pair the Avenue’s unique dining and drinking establishments, each with their own special ambiances and selections, with free musical performances, makes Adams Avenue the place to be on the last weekend of April. The AABA hopes to treat musical aficionados and foodies to the rich neighborhood culture. Music is scheduled from 12pm to 10pm on Saturday, April 29. Some artists will be playing multiple sets allowing attendees more opportunity to catch their favorite performers. Adams Avenue Unplugged is free and open to the general public. Parking is limited to residential neighborhood streets and can get quite congested. MTS bus routes 2 & 11 will service the neighborhoods. Cyclo De Mayo @ QUARTYARD - 05/04/2017 On May 4, people will replace piñatas with bicicletas and join the San Diego Bike Coalition for the second-annual Cyclo de Mayo community ride and fiesta. The festivities will commence at 5:30 p.m. at downtown’s Quartyard with remarks from Councilmember David Alvarez. Councilmember Alvarez will join on a leisurely bike parade that tours the artistic wonders of Barrio Logan and Chicano Park – recently recognized as a national historic landmark. Upon returning from the 45-minute ride, fiesta-goers can indulge in a craft beer while listening to tunes from local Latin-fusion band, Elrio. Throughout the night, attendees can support local bicycle vendors, including a Barrio Logan and a National City bike shop. Under open sky and string lights, attendees of Cyclo de Mayo are encouraged to revel in the cultural diversity that makes San Diego an exceptional place to live, work and ride.[more]

Over the Line Beer Fest @ Mariner's Point - 05/20/2017 The Old Mission Beach Athletic Club (OMBAC)is taking its renowned Over the Line (OTL) Tournament to the next level this year. The organization will host its first-ever Craft Beer Festival on Saturday, May 20 in conjunction with the first rounds of Over the Line at Mariner’s Point on May 20-21—because nothing gets you warmed up for bat like a cold one. Players are invited tobring their bats, balls and most creative team names to the tournament, while spectators watch the games and enjoy local craft brews, cocktails, and bites for a cause. Thirty of the region’s best taco-centric restaurants will offer a wide range of mouth watering taco creations. The day will be packed with incredible local and national musical performances from Vanilla Ice, Mix Master Mike, Vokab Kompany, Sweet & Tender Hooligans (Morrissey and The Smiths tribute), Fayuca, and Jarabe Mexicano. In between the musical performances, make your way to the south end of the festival to catch live Lucha Libre wrestling matches from Tijuana’s own Baja Stars! I Love Poke Festival @ Bali Hai - 05/23/2017 Maybe the best food fest in town: I Love Poke San Diego will take place on Tuesday, May 23rd, 2017 at the Bali Hai on Shelter Island. Running on its 8th year, this Ono Yum poke competition will feature tastings of poke and other island-inspired food and desserts. Chefs from all throughout San Diego participate and special guests from Hawaii and even outside of the United States are known to make appearances. Adventure Hunt - 06/24/2017 Adventure Hunt is a modern-day treasure hunt that sends you and your teammate around your city completing challenges to unlock clues that lead you to the buried treasure. Discover your city. Experience an unforgettable day. Start from home or wherever you and your teammate like. At 9am on your city's Hunt Day the official Adventure List will be revealed in our App for you and your teammate to complete (some activities are adventurous, i.e. hiking, exploring, surfing, rock climbing, skateboarding, etc. and some fun, i.e. give a stranger a piggy back ride, eat something without using your hands, etc.). Sundays in the Park: A funky music monthly jam session @ Panama 66 - 07/23/2017 Alright funky people of San Diego... Panama 66 has been gracious enough to let us host a monthly funky music jam session at their beautiful venue in Balboa Park. It will be happening on the 4th Sunday of every month from 6-8p. For our first jam session the house band will be: Jake Najor - Drums Andy Geib - Trombone/Trumpet/Flute Kiko Cornejo Jr. - Percussion Matthew LaBarber - Bass Nicholas Costa - Guitar Tim Felten - Organ/Keys Jesse Audelo - Sax/Flute It's a jam session, so we'll be inviting other musicians up to sit in with us on the tunes. We'll do a sign up sheet starting at 5:30p.
